Drills and Simulations (Training)

Colour Coding (Ergonomics)

A company dedicated to making human factors part of healthcare training everywhere.

Human factors is the study of human performance. Embracing the fields of cognitive, engineering and organisational psychology as well as ergonomic design, it offers a scientific approach to paratechnical (or ‘non-technical’) skills which are an essential part of safe healthcare:

  • communication
  • teamwork
  • leadership
  • decision-making
  • perception of risk
  • preparation and planning for complex tasks
  • error management
  • situation awareness
  • the acquisition of expertise
  • analysis of adverse events
  • ethical disclosure of adverse events.

Human factors offers an academic basis for improving the ergonomics of equipment and workplace design in healthcare environments, and the use of both technology and expertise to make health care safer. Collectively these domains form the theoretical foundation for Crew Resource Management (CRM) curricula used in aviation. ErroMed believes human factors should be taught in medical schools as a ‘basic science’ of patient safety.

ErroMed is run by Dr Stavros Prineas, a practising specialist anaesthestist, clinical human factors trainer and an international speaker on patient safety, based in Sydney, Australia.

Through its Human Error and Patient Safety (HEAPS) programme ErroMed has over 10 years’ experience in delivering small- and large- scale customized human factors training programmes to

  • doctors
  • nurses
  • allied health
  • medical executives
  • inter-professional teams

in Australia, Europe and Canada - in English - français - italianoΕλληνικα

We also offer independent consultation on specific patient safety issues and sentinel events.

Our website is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction.
